Avon children are lucky little creatures. There’s always a lot to do in Avon, Indiana itself, but the Avon community is also a suburb of Indianapolis, which means that children in Avon, and their parents, have all of Indy, the bustling capital of Indiana, at their fingertips.
Inside Avon, activities for kids are generally centered around the Avon parks, libraries and the fine Avon educational system. There are also various YMCA’s and churches that take a great interest in kids and offer a long list of things to do in Avon for the younger population.
Avon is less than ten miles from West Indianapolis. Suburbanites know that the available activities for greater Indianapolis children are extravagant and well worth the short drive into the Circle City. Of course, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the world-famous Indianapolis 500-mile race, is on that side of Indy, and is a major draw for kids of all ages. But also very close are the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, largest museum of its type in the world; the IMAX Theater; the world-famous Indianapolis Zoo and Eagle Creek Park, just to mention a few of the often-visited Indianapolis attractions in that neck of the woods, especially the Indianapolis downtown neighborhoods.
Below is a compilation of some of the things Avon children can enjoy and explore right in their own home town. You could also check out our directories of fun and educational family activities in Indianapolis and its environs and Indianapolis family sightseeing centers.
