Are you like me and enjoy a good sandwich? I seek out places to find tasty sandwiches. I especially dig sandwiches with exotic flavors and I am a fan of gyro sandwiches (slices of seasoned meat atop pita bread).
A friend recommended that I visit The Mediterranean Grill in Avon. I stopped in on a recent lunch break with the goal of getting a gyro sandwich.
The inside of The Mediterranean Grill is welcoming and I was pleased to see a handful of full tables. I took a couple of minutes to flip through the large menu. There were many items that sounded tempting, like the Beef Kabob Platter and the Falafel Plate. But I was on a mission and ordered my Gyro Sandwich ($8.95). I ordered it to go because I was on a short lunch break.
My order was ready in a short time and I appreciated hearing “Opa!” when I walked out the door.
Let’s dish about my Gyro Sandwich, which was massive. There was plenty of well-seasoned meat on pita with tomatoes and onions on the side. The meat was juicy and it was a good Gyro Sandwich. The Tzatziki Sauce (cucumber dip that you spread on the sandwich) was less garlicky than I like.
I had plenty of sandwich for leftovers. I’ll have to make a return visit to try more of the menu, and maybe visit with a group of friends so we can try the Sagnaki (fried cheese appetizer, that’s lit on fire and brought to the table) and some of their entrees.
If you’re in the mood for Mediterranean food- visit The Mediterranean Grill in Avon.
