Steve Talley: Slowly Rising Actor from Avon

While several famous actors and actresses have come from Indianapolis and the surrounding Indiana cities, Avon, Indiana only has one actor from within its borders, and “famous” is not the first word most would use to describe him. Best well known for his roles in two American Pie movies (American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile and American Pie: Beta House, both of which were direct to video releases), Steve Talley is an actor from Avon, Indiana who is just starting to get his career off the ground. Talley has the looks and professionalism to become a halfway decent film star, but his career needs some time to grow: for now he’s been reserved for raunchy comedy roles and commercials.

Steve Talley was born in Indy in 1981, but his family moved to Avon, a few miles to the west shortly thereafter. Talley grew up in the Avon schools system: he went to Avon High School, where he was the class president and wrote for the high school newspaper. After his graduation, he attended Anderson University in nearby Anderson, Indiana. His official acting career began in 2002, when he had a bit role in As the World Turns, a daytime soap opera. Humble beginnings sprouted into a slightly less humble film career when he starred as Dwight Stifler in American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile. That role led to a follow up performance as the same character in American Pie: Beta House.

Aside from Steve Talley‘s roles with National Lampoon films (he also appeared in Van Wilder: Freshman Year), he has been in many TV spots and even a few music videos. He was in a Pizza Hut commercial in 2010, and he appeared in a Bridgestone commercial during Super Bowl XLIV (the year of the disappointing Indianapolis Colts loss to the Saints). In addition, he was in Kelly Clarkson’s video for “Since U Been Gone” and a Duran Duran video (for “What Happens Tomorrow”).

Though he has been successful in his roles as a raunchy college student, it’s clear that Steve Talley wants more from his acting career. When asked about his roles in the American Pie films, he said: “I’m not sure I even like it…I’m a grown man, but I get paid to run around like an idiot. It’s kind of a ridiculous thing for a grown man to be doing.” He may get his wish: he’s slated to star in The Accidental Death of Joey by Sue in 2010, a film about two lovers on the day after Dia de los Muertos. Not content to rest on his laurels, this famous Avon person might become more famous in the next few years if he decides to branch out from his raunchy, sophomoric beginnings.
